Darren Clifford
Founder and Managing Director
After a decade at McKinsey, where he was part of its Green Business Building practice, Darren launched Adapt[us] to use capitalism as a force for adaptation; helping humanity adjust to a hotter, harsher world while improving quality of life. Over the past 15 years, he has scaled more than 15 ventures as a founder, investor, and consultant, delivering a 7x TVPI and 51% IRR across his impact investing track record.
Known for his pragmatic and plainspoken perspective on adaptation investing, Darren works hands-on with founders on strategy, scaling, and the use of AI, and speaks globally about how demand shifts create opportunity in the next economy of resilience.
Outside of work, he enjoys traveling the world staying in hostels.

Paula Alvarado
Strategic Communications Lead
She has worked as a journalist and communications strategist focused on sustainable design and responsible consumption for more than 15 years, leading content projects for brands like Discovery Communications Latin America and La Nacion (one of Argentina’s largest media groups), among others. For the past five years, she has helped build the Latin American climate tech space, shaping narratives around low-carbon and regenerative innovation for Antom.la; an experience that sparked a growing interest in market-based solutions to environmental challenges.
Despite her vast experience in sustainability, adaptation is an area she’s covered only marginally until now, which was what drew her to Adapt[us] and to the challenge of bringing resilience mainstream.
She’s obsessed with Buenos Aires’ wild vacant lots and spontaneous flora, and loves to walk—once covering 60 kilometers in a single day.
